Land of glaciers, good wines and tango!

Because Argentina sits in the southern hemisphere, now is the perfect time to plan your travels to coincide with their summer months of October thru March.  A few of the places we recommend:

Valdez Peninsula wildlife viewing--the Southern right whales are active in this area from June thru mid-December, and magellanic penguins arrive by the thousands in mid-September and stay until March. Sea lions and Elephant seals are in residence year round, and activity for the Orcas peak in March-Aprils and October-November

Patagonia

  • Trekking season is between October and March (for best weather conditions) in Los Glaciares National Park. Fitzroy is our pick for one of the best hiking destinations in Argentina!
  • Glacier viewing--best months October thru March.Perito Moreno glacier offers ice trekking options, and boat trips on Lago Argentino can take up you up close to the Upsala and Onelli glaciers

Buenos Aires--summer months begin around October, lasting through March. The perfect time to enjoy outdoor cafes, strolling the parks, and enjoying the amazing Jacaranda trees in full bloom (only November!) and art festivals. We could easily spend a week enjoying this marvelous city, sampling the restaurants, strolling the historical districts and enjoying a variety of evening tango shows and activities. With tours to suit special interests such as literature, gastronomy, gardens, architecture, nature, tango dancing and museum visits, we are sure we can find something you'll love!

Wine country of Mendoza--a great place to visit year-round, with wine harvest begins in March. How about a bike ride through the vineyards, or a cooking workshop with typical local ingredients?

Iguazu Falls- The world's widest falls sits on up north on the borders of Brazil and Paraguay. Yo'ull find great summer weather October thru March with hi temps in the mid-80's. A tropical paradise with a wide range of hotels from 5 star luxury to moderate rainforest experiences. Definitely a "must visit" stop on your itinerary.

The Lake District--featuring the resort city of Bariloche, San Martin de los Andes and Villa la Angostura. Lots of scenic sightseeing and active tours such as hiking, rafting, biking and kayaking.  Also one of the world's best fly fishing locations!

Expedition cruises--Trips through the Straits of Magellan from Ushuaia to Punta Arenas on the Cruceros Australis vessels, or take it a bit further--it's the season for Antarctica sailings as well, with most boats departing from Ushuaia for traditional or adventure style explorations
