Central Chile Discovery | Trip Itinerary

Day 1: Santiago
Arrival to Santiago, Chile.  After clearing customs and immigration proceed outside the airport where our local representative will be waiting to transfer you to your hotel.  In the afternoon we will take a city tour that will show you the highlights of the Chilean capital, including  the presidential palace with its symbolic connotations, the Central Market, and some handcrafts local markets where one can buy some local works of art. Overnight  in Santiago.

Day 2: Santa Cruz
This day we will start our journey into one of Chile’s most impressive one valleys: Colchagua. We will drive south and become astonished by the old adobe houses and its long corridors, surrounded by beautiful gardens. The traditions here live side by side with state of the art wine making properties. Its products now reach the world markets and establish themselves as world class wines. It is in one of these wineries that we will stop to have lunch and sample a bit of their production. Lunch at Casa Silva. Overnight in Santa Cruz. Free time in the afternoon to visit the Colchagua Museum and its excellent collection of pre-columbian artifacts.  (B,L)

Day 3: Santa Cruz and surroundings
We will take advantage of this wine making region and visit some of the most renown wineries, where we will be able to stroll around and learn about the process to produce high quality wine. The surroundings are just startling. At noon we will take a short break for lunch to then continue enjoying the wine making region. Lunch at Viu Manent winery or similar. Overnight in Santa Cruz. Day 4: Santa Cruz – Valparaíso
The time has come for us to drive a bit up north, we will do so by taking a road that enables us to see more about the Chilean countryside. We will make a stop at Isla Negra, where we will be able to take a look at Pablo Neruda’s amazing collection of objects. This Nobel Prize winner took advantage of Isla Negra’s rugged nature for inspiration. The results were some of the most remarkable poems about Chile. Our final destination is Valparaíso, perhaps Chile’s most charming city. With a long history as one of South America’s most important ports, Valparaíso stands out by its unique and colorful architecture, which we will be able to see. The town features endless corners with little shops and restaurants that are worth visiting. Here we will take a city tour. Overnight in Valparaíso

Day 5: La Campana National Park
Today will be the perfect time to learn about Chile’s nature, in order to do so we will drive away from the cost and reach La Campana National Park, which is notorious for its impressive forests which include the Chilean Palm Tree, endemic to this region of the world and endangered species. Another interesting thing about la Campana is that  it was visited by Charles Darwin while traveling on the Beagle. The surrounding mountains caused a big impression on the young naturalist. After a visit to the Park we will head back to Santiago where we will spend the night. (B)

Day 6: Santiago
At proper time you will be picked up and taken to the airport to continue your travels. (B)
