Food & Wine Festival--Punta del Este, Uruguay | Trip Itinerary


DAY BY DAY ITINERARY:

Day 1 - MONTEVIDEO
Arrival at Carrasco International Airport, greetingand accompanied transfer to Hotel Boutique My Suites or Sofitel , both located close to the seaside drive “Rambla”. In the afternoon, tasting of 3 different Uruguayan wines with a sommelier at the hotel. Accommodation and breakfast at selectedhotel.

Day 2- MONTEVIDEO
After breakfast, start for a guided visit of the principal sights of Montevideo. Drive along the beautiful Rambla, get to know the residential neighborhoods Carrasco and Prado, discover the famous Independence Square with the large monument to national heroe José Artigas and the Legislative Palace. Stroll across the recently opened Mercado Agricola where we will invite you to taste Urguayan artisan beer. We will continue to the Old Town of Montevideo where we will stroll through the pedestrian areas, admiring historic buildings and finish for a typical lunch at the Mercado del Puerto.  After lunch, transfer back to the hotel. Day 3-MONTEVIDEO TO PUNTA DEL ESTE.
After breakfast we will part in direction of Punta del Este, one of the most famous beach resorts of South America. On your way, we will visit Piriapolis, where you will have a beautiful view over the region from the Cerro San Antonio.  Continue to Casapueblo, this strange but beautiful  construction created by Uruguayan artist Carlos Paez Vilaro, which is  now home to the artist, hotel, museum and atelier – we will visit the museum. In Punta del Este we will get to know the “Mansa” and “Brava” beaches, the residential neighborhoods "Beverly Hills", "San Rafael" and "Cantegril Golf" and cross  the unique undulated bridge that connects the city  centre with hip “La Barra”. In the city centre you can stroll along main avenue Juan Gorlero, visit the yacht harbor and enjoy an almost infinite number of luxury brand stores and cafes and bars.  Accommodation and breakfast in selected hotel. Day 4 – PUNTA DEL ESTE
Breakfast at hotel. At the indicated time, pick up by a festival shuttle that will take us to the first event. Food & Wine: "A Tour Around the World in 6 Cuisines" Combining excellent cuisines with eno-gastronomic tourism, this luxurious lunch will be the perfect excuse to get to know and enjoy Colinas del Garzón Extra Virgin Olive Oil Boutique Plant. Here, one of the best olive oils of the world is produced and we will discover olive plantations, see a short film of the history and production of Extra Virgin Olive Oils and peek into the production facilities. The lunch will be prepared by renowned chefs and can be enjoyed together with a glass of Bodega Garzón wine just beside the small lake.

Food & Wine: “Sunset Chill out + Food and Dance” We will continue the Food & Wine experience enjoying a beautiful sunset in the incomparable location of Playa VIK in Jose Ignacio overlooking the Atlantic Ocean. This evening event combines a great sunset view with spectacular tastes and live chill out music ambience by the festival’s DJ. Afterwards, shuttle transfer to hotel. Accommodation and breakfast in selected hotel. B, L, D.

Day 5 – PUNTA DEL ESTE – PUEBLO GARZON
Breakfast at hotel. At the indicated time, pick up by a festival shuttle that will take us to the third and maybe also most important event. Food & Wine: "Seven Fires by Francis Mallmann" The streets of small Garzon village will be the setup for this unique event of this important ambassador of the cuisine of the Rio de la Plata region – Francis Mallmann. Mallmann cooks live above seven fires which he lights in the streets of Garzon. Enjoy the experience of this unique open kitchen! Lunch will be accompanied by first class wine of selected wineries. Afterwards, shuttle transfer to hotel. Accommodation and breakfast in selected hotel. B, L.

Day 6 – PUNTA DEL ESTE – MONTEVIDEO
Breakfast at hotel. Private transfer to Montevideo Airport to take your return or onward flight.  To extend your trip, we suggest either to add a night or two in Uruguay with a visit to a local cheese farm, and an then on to Colonia for a night before taking the hydrofoil to Buenos Aires, or you can  depart from Montevideo directly to Buenos Aires by hydrofoil  for an Argentina extension.  B
