This intensive rainforest experience brings you to the remote and unique location of the Tambopata Research Center where we create for you an in depth exploration of tropical rainforest ecology. Tambopata Research Station is also home to the The Macaw Project--an ongoing research project on the spectacular Macaws of Peru. Well situated close to several clay licks frequently visited by different species of macaws and parrots, you'll have an opportunity to experience these magnificent birds in the wild and also learn about the local projects--maybe see some chicks!
The Tambopata Research Center is a comfortable 22-room lodge built with the object of lodging tourists and researchers while protecting the adjacent macaw clay lick. The lodge’s pristine location means it’s surrounded by the best wildlife the Amazon jungle has to offer. There are no humans nearby, so you can see more monkeys, Macaws and other large and endangered species than anywhere else. One in three guests here even spots a Jaguar!
